Doug Emhoff Accused of Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend, New Report Claims
A recent report by the Daily Mail alleges that Doug Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, assaulted his ex-girlfriend so severely that "she spun around." The woman, referred to as "Jane," was reportedly struck in the face by Emhoff while waiting in a valet line after a 2012 Cannes Film Festival event.
Jane, a New York attorney, reportedly called a friend crying in a cab after the incident and shared the details of the alleged assault with others at the time. To substantiate parts of the story, friends provided photos and documents from 2012, choosing to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation.
Details of the Alleged Assault
Jane’s friends reported that she had received tickets from wealthy connections to attend the exclusive amfAR Gala Dinner at Hotel du Cap in Antibes, France, on May 24, 2012. The alleged assault took place after the event, which was attended by celebrities such as Heidi Klum and Harvey Weinstein. Jane, who had invited Emhoff as her guest, later called a friend crying, claiming that her date had assaulted her.
Jane's friend recalled how Emhoff allegedly slapped her after she offered a valet money to skip a taxi line, which he misinterpreted as flirting. The friend quoted Jane as saying, "She slapped him back. My impression is that he had a lot to drink. She was sobbing [on the phone afterwards], but she wasn't slurring her words. She told me that she broke up with him that night."
A second friend, also a New York attorney, confirmed that Jane had narrated the incident to them, describing how Emhoff slapped her unexpectedly around 2-3 a.m. after a pleasant evening.
Jane's Account of the Incident
According to Jane, she was conversing with a valet when Emhoff suddenly turned her around and slapped her hard, causing her to spin. In response, she slapped him back twice. She expressed her desire to return to the hotel without him. However, he forced himself into the car against her wishes.
Jane described the incident as a “trailer trash moment,” and felt it revealed Emhoff's true character. A third friend confirmed that Jane had shared the story with her in 2018, stating, "[Jane] is a gorgeous, strong woman and you would never expect somebody to hit her."
Jen Psaki's Recent Comments on Emhoff
Interestingly, just a few days prior, Jen Psaki praised Emhoff during an MSNBC interview, stating he was reshaping masculinity and was a 'supportive spouse'. Emhoff responded by stating that he had always been supportive of women, a trait he inherited from his father. He emphasized the importance of supporting women in various aspects, including pay equity, childcare, and family leave.
Emhoff also criticized Trump, stating, “Make no mistake, where he says I will be the protector of women, that is yet more lies and more gaslighting.”
Bottom Line
This report brings to light serious allegations against Doug Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris. While these allegations are yet to be confirmed, they raise questions about Emhoff's character and his recent comments on supporting women. What do you think about this report?
