Israeli Drone Attack on Lebanon's Northern City

Airstrike on Palestinian Refugee Camp

In the early hours of Saturday, an Israeli drone bombed a Palestinian refugee camp in the Lebanese city of Tripoli. A Hamas leader and three of his family members were killed in the attack. According to Al-Jadeed TV channel, the drone targeted a residential apartment near Khalil al-Rahman Mosque in the Beddawi camp in Tripoli. The attack resulted in four deaths and several injuries, with the injured being transported to the Hilal Hospital within the camp.

Hamas Responds to the Attack

Hamas issued a statement confirming the death of Qassam Brigades commander, Saeed Atallah Ali, his wife Shaima Khalil Azzam, and his two young daughters, Zainab and Fatima. The statement pledged revenge for the bloodshed, in light of the ongoing and escalating massacres in Gaza Strip, West Bank, and their camps.

First Israeli Bombing in Northern Lebanon

Al-Jadeed reported that this Israeli bombing marked the first of its kind in northern Lebanon since the war's inception. Additionally, Israel struck targets in the southern suburbs of Beirut for the third consecutive night. The Lebanese News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes launched 12 raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Saturday morning.

Evacuation Warnings and Additional Strikes

Witnesses reported hearing a blast and seeing smoke early on Saturday in Beirut. The Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for several areas, including the Burj al-Barajneh neighborhood, the Choueifat district, and Haret Hreik. The Israeli army also announced it had bombed a mosque within the Martyr Salah Ghandour Hospital compound in the town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon overnight. The hospital reported nine medical workers were injured in the strike, with many in serious condition. The army alleged that Hezbollah had established a "command room" within the mosque for planning and executing acts of terror against IDF troops and the State of Israel.

Continued Bombings in Gaza

In Gaza, the Israeli military has regularly bombed hospitals, mosques, and schools, claiming they are being used by Hamas fighters without providing any evidence. Lebanon’s Health Ministry stated that over 2,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on the country since 8 October of the previous year, including 127 children and 261 women. The war on Gaza has resulted in at least 41,802 deaths, with the local health ministry reporting the majority are women and children, and 96,844 injuries since the war began on October 7 of the previous year.

The ongoing conflict and escalating violence in the region continue to result in tragic loss of life and widespread destruction.
